Peter Ngungu

Peter Ngungu is an experienced Domestic Tax specialist in Kenya with over 32 years of service at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). He built his expertise across multiple divisions in the Domestic Taxes Department, starting his career in the Value Added Tax (VAT) Department, where he was among the first officers trained following VAT’s introduction in 1989 to replace the Sales Tax regime.

For 18 years, Peter served in the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO), including 14 years as an Auditor and Compliance Manager. In this role, he managed high-value clients such as leading construction companies with turnovers exceeding KES 140 billion, government ministries, county governments, and key service industries. He also worked extensively with small and medium-sized taxpayers, giving him unique insight into challenges faced across business sizes.

Peter specializes in domestic tax audits, compliance reviews, VAT advisory, and capacity building for both public and private sector organizations. His breadth of experience enables him to provide practical, tailored guidance that balances compliance with business growth.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Business Administration) from the University of Nairobi.
